Advent Day 12

The Census

Read: Micah 5:2 and Luke 2:1-5

Special verse:  But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. – Micah 5:2

Discuss: The Roman government told all of the people to go back to their hometowns to be counted.  Joseph’s hometown was Bethlehem, so he took Mary there.  Traveling would have been difficult then; by animal or on foot, and Mary was very close to having a baby!  But they made the journey.  Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, God had told His people through the prophet Micah, that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem.  The story of Jesus is long!  And now a whole bunch of promises were all coming together in this special moment with these special people God had chosen.  Have you ever heard or felt God asking you to do something (big or small) for Him?
