Advent Day 14

The Shepherds & the Angel

Read: Luke 2:8-12

Special verses:  And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. – Luke 2:10-11

Discuss: The shepherds were just doing their shepherd thing; watching sheep.  Why do you think an angel came to them to announce this good news?  Why wouldn’t the angel tell a ruler, or a teacher, or a powerful person?  What signs did the angel tell the shepherds to look for, so they would recognize Jesus?  Do you think Jesus was the only baby in Bethlehem that fit that description?

Week 2 Craft: See instructions for a cute popsicle stick Nativity ornament here.  If you are swimming in LEGO bricks at your house, challenge your kids to build a LEGO nativity like the one shown here.
